On the way To the village of Lahij, wonderful views of the surroundings await us. There will be vineyards on both sides along our path in the Shamakhi region. And the most picturesque mountain pass. High mountain ranges covered with dense forest. Sheer cliffs, among which our path will lie. On the way to Lahij we will stop and walk over a suspension bridge over a turbulent mountain river. Lahij itself is located 180 km north-west of Baku at an altitude of 1300 m above sea level. Lahij is an ancient center of handicraft copper tableware production and minting. Built according to the principle of block development, it is an original monument of medieval town planning and architectural art with cobbled streets and squares, a developed sewerage and water supply system and buildings built of stone, but with wooden rails. The first mention of Lahij dates back to the 7th century. Since ancient times, the village has been a craft center for the production of copper dishes and minting.
Upon arrival in Lahij, at your choice, we will have lunch at one of the restaurants or visiting a local resident. Then we will walk around Lahij, visit the smelting furnaces and workshops that have survived to this day, an underground bath and an old mosque. In numerous shops and directly in workshops, you will be offered a huge assortment of local products for every taste, from small boxes to handmade samovars. As well as various spices and medicinal herbs collected from the surrounding mountains.
